Term 1: The Chemical Earth (10 weeks)
Elements and compounds, Mixture, Silicon and silicone, Separation methods, centrifuging, coagulation and decanting, magnetism, sublimation, paper chromatography, The periodic table, Electron configuration, Ionic bonding

Term 2: Metal (10 weeks)
Making alloys, Extraction of metals from ores, Oxidation and reduction and half reactions, full net ionic equation, Limiting reagent, Mass volume calculations

Term 3: Water (10 weeks)
Equilibrium, Concentration, Exothermic and endothermic reactions, H=mcT, Surface tension and viscosity, Supersaturated solutions, Conductivity of solutions, electrolytes and non-electrolytes

Term 4: Energy (10 weeks)
Allotropes of carbon, Simple hydrocarbons, Enthalpy, Heat and molar heat, Rate of reaction, Catalysts and crude oil
COURSE HOURS
This course will run on Thursday evenings, 5pm-7pm.

MATERIALS
Course materials provided at John’s Academy are developed in-house by our PhD staff and are tailored to suit each course structure. All course material is bound in a booklet and will complement classroom learning.

    During the summer holiday period, this course will run on Thursday evenings, 5pm-8pm.

    During all other holiday periods (Easter, mid-year and spring), this course will run on Monday and Thursday evenings, 5pm-8pm.
